How Much Whey Protein Should a Woman Take in a Day?

Health Oct 11, 2022

Consuming whey protein has become a fast-growing trend in today’s world. Everyone that is into fitness generally consumes whey protein. However, whether male or female, using one scoop of protein daily is a great idea, even if you don’t work out.

But how much protein should you take as a woman? Is there a limit? Let’s find out:

1. The Default Recommendation

If you don’t want to get into calculations and just seek to meet your daily protein intake needs, you can take a scoop. The daily protein intake requirement for most women worldwide is around 40 to 50 grams, at best. Depending on the brand, a scoop of whey protein will be approximately 23g to 25g.

2. According To The Body Weight

If you want to get into more accurate requirements, you can use a simple calculation. The best way to do so is by consuming 0.8 g of protein for each kilogram you weigh. So, if you weigh 50kgs, you must consume (50 x 0.8 = 40) at least 40 grams of protein per day.

It’s The Same As Men

Despite not having the body-building hormones,’ the protein calculations and requirements are the same for males and females. You can use the same measures, and you wouldn’t have to worry about anything.

The primary factor in determining protein intake is the bodyweight. As women tend to weigh less, generally, they need to consume less protein.

3. If You’re Athletic

Being athletic doesn’t mean that you have to stack yourself with protein. There’s no need for you to go crazy about protein intake. Typically 1 to 1.2 grams per kilogram is ideal for any female athlete.

For instance, if you weigh 50kgs, then 60 grams of protein is enough for the day. This could also mean that you would have to take 2 scoops per day.

4. For Body Building Requirements

As we all know, women aren’t capable of naturally synthesising and gaining high muscle mass. You will need some supplement help. Still, if you want a more defined body toned and less fat content, you could go with 1.5x to 2.2x the body weight. This is known as the sweet spot for bodybuilding.

So, if you weigh 50kgs, you need at least 75 to 110 grams of protein daily.

Taking Protein Won’t Make You Bulky

Most women have concerns that taking too much protein would make them bulky, but that’s not the case. Female bodies lack the hormones required to produce a high volume of muscles. So, it is alright even if you take too much protein. Even the supermodels you see take plenty of protein to stay fit and often have zero or low-carb diets.

The Bottom Line – Does Taking Excess Protein Hurt You?

Protein takes more calories to digest and makes your liver and kidney work a little extra. It is all in good faith, and you needn’t worry as long as you get international whey protein by Supps R Us.
